Review of surrogacy

Submissions

During our review, Te Aka Matua o te Ture | Law Commission published an Issues Paper and a consultation website and invited submissions on the matters discussed in these.

The Commission received over 200 submissions from individuals and organisations. The submissions received were invaluable as we considered the issues and formulated our recommendations for reform. We refer to the submissions throughout our Final Report.

The submissions can be viewed below.

The Issues Paper and consultation website advised submitters that we would publish submissions once the final report was published, but that people submitting in their individual capacity would not be identified. We have therefore removed names and other identifying information from these submissions. The information removed includes, for example, contact details, financial information, names of third parties or personal information about those parties. Because the number of surrogacy arrangements that occur in Aotearoa New Zealand is small, we have also removed some details such as location or timing of an arrangement that could allow the submitter to be identified.
